Cookies and browser storage
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites. They remember preferences and enable functionality. Not all cookies track you.
2. Current cookie status
InstantWordCount does not currently set HTTP cookies through its own application code. It uses local browser storage for essential preferences and optional locally saved work. Hosting or security infrastructure may use strictly necessary mechanisms to deliver or protect the site.
3. What we don’t currently use
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Product analytics cookies
- Behavior-replay scripts
- Social media advertising pixels
4. Cookie-free analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics measures website traffic and loading performance. Cloudflare states that this service does not use analytics cookies, browser storage or fingerprinting. It is separate from the local draft and preference storage described above. Measurements may be unavailable because of browser controls or regional configuration.
We do not add advertising cookies, Google Analytics, session recordings or custom events containing your text, filenames, files or results. Browser privacy tools can block the Cloudflare analytics script while the core tools remain available. See our Privacy Policy for the provider, purpose, types of measurements and your choices.
Google Search Console provides reports about our public pages in Google Search. It does not add a visitor-tracking script or additional cookies to this website. See the Privacy Policy for details.
5. Local storage
Browser storage remembers preferences and some tool settings. Workspace automatically saves active draft text and titles when storage is available. Removed drafts can remain in local recovery history. Other tools may offer optional local projects or history. A short-lived entry may also carry a draft between compatible tools. Uploaded image and PDF contents are not intentionally saved there. See the Privacy Policy for categories and retention details.
Local OCR models and text transfer
Image & PDF to Text may cache recognition language models in IndexedDB. This cache contains recognition resources, not your selected documents or extracted text. If you choose to continue in Word Counter or Workspace, a temporary session-storage entry carries your text and document name to that tool. It is cleared after a successful import; entries stop being eligible for import after 15 minutes. Expired entries are removed when the receiving tool checks them; closing the tab or clearing site data also clears session storage. Workspace saves the imported text as a new local document. Clear site data in your browser settings to remove model caches and other local work.
6. Fonts and optional AI downloads
Interface fonts are served from this website. Local background removal may download runtime and model files from jsDelivr or staticimgly.com when first used. These requests are not cookies, but providers receive ordinary connection information and the browser may cache downloaded files. Selected photos and drafts are not intentionally included in those requests.
7. Managing browser storage
You can delete InstantWordCount site data through your browser settings. This removes associated local drafts, recovery copies, preferences, history, projects, presets and downloaded model caches. It may make the storage notice appear again. Export a separate copy of work you need before clearing site data. Core tools remain available if browser storage is blocked, although local saving and preferences may not persist.
